Hot Cakes Capitol Hill

I came here with a friend when it was not so busy and had a pleasant experience. When I communicated with the clerk we gestured and it was smooth. However, I would have loved to be able to communicate with her in ASL. I would encourage the staff to learn a little ASL. Bonus? She hand wrote the wifi user and passcode instead of expecting me to speechread her.

I wanted to give a shout for the last time I stopped by this place toward end of February. I asked the staff if they had more of those s'more edge scraps and she took time to look for the second bag in the back room. I was happy to wait since they're a special treat that my friend and I love to eat. Found the bag after probably 10 minutes of looking for it. She was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!!

P.S. A small tip for those who want to visit this Capitol Hill location and can't find a parking spot. There's a small store down the hill across from Starbuck's that you can pay to park in one of their 3-4 parking spots. It's worth trying instead of driving around and feeling frustrated for not finding a place to park. :)

Hot Cakes co-founder Autumn Martin recently opened this new location in Capitol Hill a few months earlier. I've been wanting to come by and finally had the opportunity yesterday. She was at this location and recognized me; my transaction went smoothly and I got what I wanted. I used a paper and pen to communicate with her and I gestured too.

There were some one-day goodies (brownies and s'mores). It was Happy Hour while I was there so I got a few items from those options. Friend and I shared our warm S'mores dessert that we selected from display, yum! FYI: if you want it warm, make sure to ask the staff for that if you pick it from display. It tastes much better when the marshmallow is gooey. When we baked the one-day s'mores at home, we did it until the marshmallow melted over and liked it that way. The staff is nice so don't be afraid to ask if they can warm it up or melt it for you! :)

They had a photo booth in the back so we took some fun black and white pictures for about 5 bucks. Parking is somewhat challenging in that area, but it's worth checking out. The place is about 2-3x bigger than the Ballard location and they have a fireplace outside in front of the store. I was impressed with how beautiful the location is. Will be returning back again!
