Beans & Bagels

Bridget

Disappointed.  My friends and I who usually get together once a month by hopping different local restaurants in effort to support their business.  We were to go there this coming Friday however an incident the other day had us all crossing out Beans and Bagels place.

The owner of Beans and Bagels demonstrated discrimination behavior and refused to acknowledge how wrong his behavior was even after I tried to educate him on how to serve a deaf customer.  My daughter, Brooke, who is deaf, was writing down her order.  While she was doing that, the owner went ahead and took orders from another customer standing in line.  When I tried to educate  him on how inappropriate and rude his method was, and what would be appropriate when accepting orders from deaf customers, he became cocky and rude.

Frederick, MD has a large deaf community and his behavior is inexcusable as this is not the first time he has encounter a deaf customer.

While the food is rather an important part of frequenting a restaurant, I believe respect and kindness for others are equally as important as their food service.  Their food are wonderful but I will not ever go back there.  My group of 12 friends who are also deaf will not go there either.
