No sooner did my two deaf friends and I sit down to the table, our server Mason had already hand-written us a note (paraphrased here): "Hi, my name is Mason. I will be your server today!" His energy was unfailing, and led to a series of notes detailing the day's special's, a warning about which house-made sauce was very spicy, and asking if the food was yummy, etc. Mason was not afraid to finger spell his own name, nor write down another note to clarify the order (if more servers did this, we'd never experience another ordering mistake ever again).
I came here with another Deaf friend. Mason, our server was great at making eye contact, gesturing to the menu and was able to help all of us despite our different communication preferences. The food was amazing -- who knew this little place tucked away on Broadway could be such a gem? Oh, and deaf-friendly bonus, Mason signed "THANK YOU" as we left for the day.
