Le Petit Chouette

Don't be fooled by their worn exterior. The ID neighborhood can be notoriously hit-or-miss in deaf-friendly service, but I found one that consistently scores a "hit". No sooner had I loaded up on a crazy-cheap entree and crazy-cheap dessert for $8 + tip, I pointed to the green, red, and yellow rice desserts on display. "What are these?" I asked curiously. The energetic, always-smiling lady didn't just explain their flavorings (pandan leaves, durian, etc.) while repeating where necessary; she also cut open all 3 packages and give me a sample of each. Talk about teaching by example! A lesson for all foreign food businesses: If your exotic menu or spoken words don't get across us, offer samples with a smile.
