Great store- staff seem well trained on working with Deaf customers and have always been willing to answer my questions, regardless of which modality I use to communicate. I always receive face-to-face communication, eye contact, and a positive attitude over the years which speaks to their commitment to providing consistent deaf-friendly service.
They have a long history of providing interpreters for their workshops too, which is always a plus.
As I am aware accessibility needs are different amongst a variety of
Deaf people, but I am able to read lips. The lady that helped spoke
clearly and loud enough that I didn't need any interpreting. Their
customer service was awesome as they made sure you weren't ignored. They
were quick to provide input on whatever device you were checking out
and made you feel comfortable even though you are wrestling with a
sexual device that you could be using later that night (I had my darling
with me, which made the fun times two!). Gestures were made, but they
were done professionally without making you feel creepy. Super friendly
employees! And what surprised me was they regularly hold workshops, and in their bulletins, they proactively make it clear that interpreters are provided upon request with no question asked. That is AWESOME! I might as well attend one soon!
Babeland is THE BOMB! I usually go there for workshops with a group of deaf friends and they always have interpreters ready for us- always. Whenever we want to go to one of their workshops, we email them and request for an interpreter- they coordinated everything without any problems. Make sure you give them plenty of time if you want to see one of their fantastic workshops with an interpreter! Babe, you are definitely on our deaf-friendly land! (FIST BUMPIN' YA)
